Quattro Plant Kawasaki to run iconic Mick Grant Livery
Quattro Plant Kawasaki will run a special Mick Grant inspired livery on Luke Mossey’s ZX-10R in the 2016 MCE British Superbike Championship ‘Showdown’.
The one-off livery takes inspiration from the famous green and white Kawasaki colours which adorned Grant’s Kawasaki KR750 Isle of Man TT winning Superbike that clocked an amazing 112.77mph lap in 1977.
23-year old Luke Mossey will run the livery throughout the ‘Showdown’, starting this weekend at Donington Park, after securing his place in the title decider with a career-best second place finish in the final race at Oulton Park.
Pete Extance, Team Owner: “Luke approached me at the start of the season asking could we run a special Mick Grant inspired livery if he made it to the Showdown.
“Mick Grant is a hero of Luke’s and to many of the guys in the Quattro Plant Kawasaki team, myself included, so I didn’t hesitate to say yes.
“I am very excited to see Luke’s bike race in the same iconic livery as Mick’s famous green and white Kawasaki KR750 – it’s going to be something special.
“We must thank the guys at Wicked Coatings for turning this around so quickly and doing such as an amazing job. I think fans our really going to love Luke’s bike.
Luke Mossey: “I’ve always loved the paint schemes of the 1970s and 1980s, they’re so classic and memorable and the Kawasaki was particularly pretty. I grew up watching my dad’s videos of races involving legendary riders like Barry Sheene, Steve Parrish, Agostini and Mick Grant. I watched those guys for hours.”
“I always loved Mick Grant’s bike and I can’t wait to meet him for the first time at the unveiling of the bike. He’s such a respected rider it’ll be an honour to meet him and talk about racing.”
